Family Hub

What’s on between January and March 2025?

Free stay and plays - Stay and play with your child or children, meet other parents, share experiences and relax in a safe and friendly environment.

Dads stay and plays - Fun activities for dad's and their children to get involved with, enjoy and bond. These sessions help fathers to learn how to play with their children and gives them time to interact with others in an informal setting.

Dads peer support group - If you’re looking for other like minded dads to meet in a welcoming space, come along to our peer support group.

Triple P for Baby – A parenting programme which focuses on ways to promote positive parenting, looking at infant relationships and your baby’s development.

First words together (0-2 yrs) - This group looks at encouraging early communication with babies and infants, and how to develop their language skills. The sessions will also help parents and carers build their own awareness and confidence in supporting early communication leading up to their babies’ first words.

The HENRY Programme – Health, Exercise and Nutrition for the Really Young. Help is available for you to make small, impactful changes to achieve your healthy lifestyle goals. The programme focuses on practical behaviour changes, new parenting skills, and valuable information about nutritious food and fun activities for your children.

Introduction to solid foods – Come along to meet members of the infant feeding service who will be available to answer any questions and support you through all the questions and queries you may have as you start introducing solid foods into your baby’s diet.

Don’t slam the door - Parenting a teenager can be daunting. Come to these sessions to learn about the difficulties and complexities of looking after a teen.

Breastfeeding support groups – Breastfeeding support groups are facilitated by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust infant feeding service. The group is a safe space for mothers to come along and receive help with their feeding journey and speak with fellow mums about all-things feeding.

What are Family Hubs?

Family Hubs offer a welcoming space where families can access advice and support from a range of services. The Hubs have been set up to support families with children aged 0-19, or 0-24 for those children with special educational needs and disabilities.

With teams located in four locality hubs across the borough, a variety of services can be found all under one roof, to provide the families they work with easier access to these services, to provide the right help at the right time.

Practitioners include family support practitioners, health visitors, school nurses, early help police officers, domestic abuse support practitioners, mental health support and substance misuse support.

The four hubs are located at:

• North Family Hub - 275 Blakenall Lane, Blakenall, Walsall WS3 1HJ
• West Family Hub - Ilmington House, Crescent Road, Wednesbury, WS10 8AE
• South & Central Family Hub - Birchills Street, Walsall, WS2 8NF
• East Family Hub - Silver Court, Walsall, WS8 6HA

There are also an additional 10 ‘community spokes’ based in voluntary and community buildings across the borough.
