Hannah Maybank: Un-Still

This exhibition, from nearby Stafford-born artist, Hannah Maybank, took inspiration from the 1974 Garman Ryan Collection – a collection that first went on display in the gallery above the library on Lichfield Street. This collection would go on to have a pivotal influence on Hannah’s development as an artist. Alice Weldon’s drawing of Cyclamen inspired work for her Art A-Level, and now Hannah has created a brand-new painting, ‘Gathering’, featuring chrysanthemum flowers, as a gift for the gallery’s 25th birthday.

During her 2025 Artist Residency at Walsall Leather Museum, generously supported by the John Feeney Trust, Heritage Crafts Association and QEST, Rachael Colley worked with the museum’s archive to create a new body of work.
Rachael has created connections between horse and human adornments to explore notions around ‘wearable control’ which reference medical assistives and refer to Rachael’s own health conditions. As a sufferer of a long-term chronic autoimmune disease, Rachael’s work is a deeply personal response to both her own health and the museum’s collections.
What’s on at Walsall Parks
Nordic Walks
Nordic Walking uses poles which adds major benefits to walking. The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs, the poles also help propel walkers along – this means they work harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!
Walsall’s Nordic Walking sessions are welcoming, supportive, and suitable for beginners. You will be shown the technique and encouraged to go at a steady, comfortable pace. Poles are provided.
Sessions in February include:
- Mondays throughout February, 11am-12pm, Walsall Arboretum
- Wednesdays throughout February, 11am-12pm, Brownhills
- Fridays throughout February, 11.15am-12.15pm, Willenhall Memorial Park
