What’s On Walsall – April 2025

Hands-on creative Easter holiday workshops galore, Eid ul-Fitr and Vaisakhi celebrations, top-tier entertainment from Black Country comedian Jonny Cole and electrifying performances from Pink, Elvis and Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons tributes are just some of the highlights at Walsall Council venues this April.

HIGHLIGHT
Vaisakhi: Community Day
Saturday 26 April, 12-4pm. Free, drop-in. All welcome.
Celebrate the birth of the Khalsa and harvest time in Northern India. Expect a dance performance from the Gabhru Panjab de Bhangra Team, Simran, Kirtan and Poetry performed by Gobind Sarvar Gurmat School, tabla performance by world famous Dalbir Singh Rattan and his students, have-a-go Kundalini Yoga, display of Sikh Community art and make a cardboard sword with artist Daya Bhatti.

Join us to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Sunday Art Club

The Gallery’s weekly art club for children and young people. Meet artists and creatives and learn to paint, print, sculpt, craft and more!
- Sunday 6 April – Seed Creatures. Create mini beasts using clay, soil & seeds.
- Sunday 13 April – Watercolour Tree People. Paintings inspired by the work of artist Sally Payen.

Baby & Me
Wednesday 9 April, 10.30am-12noon and 12.30-2pm. Every second Wednesday of the month. Suitable for 0-24 months. £3 per child, places are limited, booking essential. Book at Reception or call 01922 654400.
Multi-sensory sessions for parents, carers and their babies. Explore colours and light projections, discover new smells, feel new textures in our touchy-feely books and relax in our comfy cushions whilst you listen to a short story and meet other new parents.

Photography & Makers Weekend Symposia: Tradition meets Modernity
Saturday 12 April & Sunday 13 April, 12-4pm.
Weekend pass: £20 (£15 concs.) Single day tickets £12 (£7.50)
As part of Walsall MakerFest Fringe, these symposia explore the tension between tradition and modernity in making and photography. Join us for a weekend of thought-provoking discussions, industry insights and creative networking. Speakers include Great British Sewing Bee Quarterfinalist Lauren Tedstone and British designer Wayne Hemingway MBE.

Their programmes always offer a great mix of fabulous music and feature a whole range of popular classics and favourite show tunes. The concerts also include invited guests and performers.

Chris Connor as Elvis

Starring and produced by world renowned Elvis performer Chris Connor with his 12 piece live band The Steels and backing vocals by The Sweet Harmonies. This magnificent theatre production recreates two popular Elvis Presley concerts. You will simply feel that you have been transported back in time, if you were not lucky enough to see Elvis live, you walk away from this concert feeling that you have! This show respectively and authentically recreates Elvis at his very best.

An opportunity to try your hand at new crafts. Each month we try something different and participants are encouraged to have a go and experiment! We supply support, starter ideas, materials, chat and tea and biscuits. So if you are looking for a friendly creative environment where you can meet people and try your hand at different things - Stitchers and Skivers is the place for you. March’s session will explore making paper flowers.

Adult Dry Point Etching Workshop with Holly Wardale

We are delighted to welcome back Holly Wardale of Crafty Bun Studio to lead a dry point etching workshop. Holly will guide you through the process of this intaglio printing technique and help you to create your own prints to take away with you. No prior experience is necessary.
