What’s On Walsall - April 2024

Vaisakhi celebrations, creative walks and a murder mystery evening are just some of the events and activities taking place this April at The New Art Gallery Walsall, Walsall Leather Museum and Walsall Arena and Arts Centre.
HIGHLIGHT - Vaisakhi 2024 Community Day at the New Art Gallery Walsall
Saturday 20 April 2024, 12 noon to 4pm.
Free admission, drop-in.
A special cultural event to mark Vaisakhi in the Black Country. The Vaisakhi celebration will feature a wide array of activities to get involved with including Kundalini Yoga, Pranic Healing, art displays and performances. Performances on the day include singing and poetry readings from pupils at Gobind Sarvar Gurmat School, traditional Bhangra dancing by Gabhru Punjab De and Tabla performances from Shere Punjab Gurukul.

Baby and Me - multi-sensory sessions for parents, carers and their babies
Wednesday 10 April 2024, 10.30am to 12 midday and 12.30pm to 2pm.

Explore colours and light projections, discover new smells and textures while listening to a short story and meet other new parents. Suitable for 0-24 months.
Walk and Draw
Saturday 13 April 2024, 11am to 12.30pm.

Artist Al Fawson will lead fast-paced and fun workshops in which participants make speedy sketches of artworks in the collections and temporary exhibitions. Sessions will incorporate the five ‘ways to wellbeing’: take notice, be active, learn, connect and give. No drawing experience necessary, and all materials provided.

Free admission, drop-in.
A weekly art club for children and young people. Meet artists and creatives and learn to paint, print, sculp, craft, make films and more. For ages 4+ years.

An evening of murder and mayhem with the talented members of Murders Incorpseorated. Watch the story unfold around you and then see if you can put the clues together to solve ‘whodunnit’.
Stitchers and Skivers Adult Craft Group

Join this monthly craft club sessions where participants have a go at all sorts of things. There’s plenty of experimenting and certainly plenty of laughter with tea and biscuits thrown in for good measure. You don’t have to be a crafting expert as long as you’re willing to get stuck in and have a go.

Join willow artist and basketmaker, Daisy Askins, on this beginner's basketmaking course, including an introduction to the tools and techniques of the heritage craft of willow weaving. Daisy will show you how to make your own small round basket, where you'll learn how to make a round base, stake up the basket, weave the sides, turn down the border and add a handle.
