Published on

Businesses in Walsall have rallied together to recover more than four thousand pounds worth of Christmas gifts for children and young people.

Christmas gift appeal 1

Walsall Council launched an appeal to local businesses following a vehicle fire on 3 December 2024, where the gifts and vehicle were damaged beyond repair.

Children and young people in Walsall were due to receive the gifts as part of the council’s Holiday Activity and Food programme during the school holidays.

The gifts had been collected as part of the Cash 4 Kids Mission Christmas campaign, which the council is a beneficiary of each year, to ensure every child has at least one Christmas gift.

“ We are absolutely blown away at the generosity and support we’ve received from local businesses during this appeal.

The vehicle fire damaged thousands of pounds of gifts and we’re so pleased to say we’ve recovered all of the gifts we lost in the fire, and more.

Thank you doesn’t feel enough to those who’ve donated to the cause. By donating, you will have put a smile on a child or young person’s face during the festive period, which as we know is priceless.

As we’ve received so many donations, we can support even more vulnerable families this Christmas.

Thank you once again on behalf of everyone at Walsall Council, this appeal has really shown what a fantastic and supportive community we have here in our borough

A team of council staff and young volunteers will now organise the gifts ready for distribution.
