The takeaway was served a food hygiene emergency prohibition notice by Walsall Council environmental health officers.

KayDees, on Wolverhampton Road, Walsall, were served a food hygiene emergency prohibition notice by Walsall Council environmental health officers on 10 March 2025.

The notice followed a visit to the premises which found clear evidence of a mice infestation, including droppings found underneath the grill.

Council officers attended Dudley Magistrates court on 14 March 2025, and upon seeing the photographic evidence, the Magistrate concluded that the notice had been correctly served. Officer costs were awarded to the council of £475.

“ Customers should not have to be concerned whether or not a takeaway of their choice is infested with mice or other rodents.

A clean and hygienic food environment is a basic ask of our retailers, and it is their responsibility to uphold the industry standards.

Where these standards are not upheld, our environmental health officers will proceed to take swift action, to protect the public and their health. “

Councillor Garry Perry, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Resilient Communities
Walsall Council

The business has since reopened after making necessary changes.
