Congratulations are in order for young people in Walsall today, as many will receive their A Level results.

Exam results

Provisional results show that Walsall’s young people achieved A* in 6.3% of their A-Level and A-Level equivalent qualifications, and an A or A* in 24% of all qualifications.

Overall, our young people achieved a passing grade of A*-E in 94.8% of A-Level and A-Level equivalent qualifications.

“ It’s a big day for lots of young people in the borough.

A day that is full of mixed emotions, and one that people will have felt a nervous build up to.

A huge congratulations to everybody receiving their results, you should be very proud of what you have achieved, and I hope you take a moment to
celebrate your achievements and successes.

It’s also important on days like these to thank the dedicated teaching staff who support pupils the best way they can to achieve great things, results days really are a testament to the hard work staff put into teaching.

It’s the start of the future for our young people, and today will confirm for lots of people what their next steps will be, whether that’s going onto work or higher education.

There will be some surprises today nonetheless, with results being even better or perhaps not as good as some had expected.

As big and important as this day is, it doesn’t define your future forever, and if you are disappointed with your results, please be assured there are still plenty of opportunities and good things to come. “

If a student does not receive the results they were expecting or need then they should, in the first instance, speak to their school or college about the options open to them, including appealing their grades. Walsall Council is supporting schools and academies with this offer.

If you are a young person with questions about education, training or employment you can contact the Walsall Council Employment and Skills Team on 01922 654353 or Email: walsallworks@walsall.gov.uk.

The team can provide customised one to one and training for young people in Walsall aged 16 and over who are not in employment, education or training to help them overcome the barriers that may be stopping them from finding and securing training, education or a job.
