“ This heat alert is a timely reminder to be aware of the risks associated with hot weather and take steps to stay safe.

"We encourage everyone to look after themselves and stay well hydrated.

"Check on vulnerable neighbours and friends, especially older adults, those with underlying health conditions, and young children. “

Councillor Gary Flint, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing at Walsall Council

“ With temperatures rising, many residents may be spending more time outdoors. However, it’s crucial to remember a few things on hot sunny days. Please stay hydrated, seek shade during peak sun hours, and wear sunscreen.

"Ensure you drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid excessive sunlight, especially during peak hours (11 am to 3 pm).

"Wear loose, lightweight, and comfortable clothing and keep your home cool by closing curtains during the day in rooms facing the sun, and trying to keep the indoors cool, remembering that it may be cooler outdoors than indoors.

"If you experience feeling unwell, dizzy, weak, anxious, or have intense thirst, move to a cool place, drink fluids, and cool your body down. If you need urgent advice, please call NHS 111 or in an emergency, dial 999.
