Walsall residents encouraged to ‘brave the big talk’ this Time to Talk Day
Published on
Walsall residents are being encouraged to brave the big talk this Time to Talk Day (Thursday 5 February 2026) by starting a conversation about mental health, and by knowing where to turn for support if they need it.
Residents can access a range of free and confidential services in Walsall that provide a safe and supportive space for anyone who may be nervous about opening up, helping residents to build confidence to start honest conversations and speak to someone about how they are feeling.
The Thrive Mobile Unit – Let’s Chat bus, which visits locations across Walsall, offers advice and support on financial concerns, employment, housing and more.
Outside of usual service hours, The Sanctuary Hub in Bloxwich, Walsall is open 7 days a week (Monday - Friday from 6pm-11pm and Saturday - Sunday from 12pm-11pm) for anyone who needs support outside of usual mental health service hours.
Free counselling services are available through Mustard Seed CIC and Walsall Bereavement Support Service.
Residents can also complete a personal 8 Steps to Wellbeing Plan, which helps them understand how to look after their mental wellbeing.
While awareness around mental health has improved, many people still experience stigma, fear of judgement and uncertainty about what to say. These barriers can prevent people from seeking support, especially when they need it most.
Time to Talk Day provides a moment for the community to pause, connect, and remind one another that no one should struggle alone.
“ Talking about mental health can feel difficult, but it’s one of the kindest things we can do for each other. Time to Talk Day is a reminder that asking how someone is and really listening can make a real difference. You could have a morning catch-up with work colleagues, spend time outdoors with a friend, family member or a local group, send a text message to someone to see how they are doing, or invite someone for a coffee or tea break.
If you or someone you know needs support, there are free, confidential services across Walsall ready to help. “
If you need urgent help for your mental wellbeing, call 111 or visit the NHS 111 website and select the mental health option to speak to a trained professional.
In an emergency or if you cannot keep yourself safe, dial 999 or go to A&E.
