Walsall parents urged to complete school flu vaccination consent as cases continue to rise
Published on
Parents and carers across Walsall are reminded to complete the school flu vaccination consent form if they have not already done so. Many families may have missed the information sent out by schools, and Walsall Council Public Health and NHS Black Country ICB are keen to ensure every child has the opportunity to be protected.
Flu cases are continuing to rise, and children are particularly vulnerable to catching and spreading the virus. Vaccinating children helps protect them, their classmates, and more vulnerable family members.
Vaccination UK, the organisation delivering the school-aged immunisation programme across Walsall and the Black Country, is offering the free nasal flu vaccine or a free porcine-free alternative to all school-aged children. The online consent form is quick and easy to complete and must be submitted before the vaccination session in school. The consent form can also be completed before attending a drop-in clinic.
Parents and carers can complete the consent form by visiting Vaccination UK Immunisation.
“ Flu can make children feel very unwell, with symptoms such as fever, tiredness, cough and sore throat. While most recover within a week, flu can sometimes lead to serious complications and hospital treatment.
Because flu viruses change every year, it’s vital that children are vaccinated again this season, even if they’ve had the vaccine before. Vaccinating children not only protects them but also their families and the wider community.
I strongly encourage all parents and carers to complete the online consent form as soon as possible, so every child has the chance to be protected. “
“ Flu can be serious, particularly for younger children. The nasal flu vaccine offered in schools is safe, effective, and provides the best protection as winter approaches. We encourage all parents to take just a few minutes to complete the online consent form and help keep our communities healthy. “
Vaccination UK will be running a catch-up clinic for children who miss their vaccination at school:
- 13 Dec 2025 09.00-13.00 at Goldsmith Primary School, Goldsmith Road, WS3 1DL
These are drop-in clinics but appointments are available if preferred. To book an appointment or find out more, email Walsall@v-uk.co.uk or phone 01922 902 035.
For more information on the school-aged flu vaccination programme, parents can also contact their child’s school or visit the Vaccinations UK website.
