For the May Bank Holidays on Monday 4 May 2026 and Monday 25 May 2026, Walsall Council services will be operating with modified hours or closures.
The main council offices will be closed on Monday 4 May and Monday 25 May 2026.
Here is a general overview containing information about Walsall Council’s opening hours and specific details on its leisure, libraries, waste collections, recycling centres, markets and other services.
If you need to report any urgent issues on public land or highways within Walsall whilst the council is closed, please call 01922 650000 and you will be transferred to the council’s out of hours team.
Adult and Children’s Services
Normal service hours are affected by the May bank holiday.
Our out of hours service will be available throughout the period we are closed - However, if you require urgent help or advice in relation to children and young people you can contact 0300 555 2922. For Adult Social Care or homelessness support, please contact: 0300 555 2836.
Household waste and recycling centres (HWRCs)
Waste collections will operate as normal on both Bank Holiday Mondays.

The New Art Gallery is closed every Monday and will be closed on both May Monday Bank Holidays.

Walsall Libraries will be closed on both Monday 5 May 2026 and Monday 25 May 2026

Walsall Markets
Walsall Markets will be closed on Monday 5 May and Monday 25 May 2026. All markets will be open as normal, from the Tuesday.
Walsall Arboretum
The Walsall Arboretum café and visitor centre will be open as usual during the May bank holiday period from 9am to 3pm.
