Walsall Council’s Easter opening times

Here is a general overview containing information about Walsall Council’s opening hours and specific details on its leisure, libraries, waste collections, recycling centres, markets and other services. 

The main council offices will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. 

If you need to report any urgent issues on public land or highways within Walsall whilst the council is closed, please call 01922 650000 and you will be transferred to the council’s out of hours team.

Walsall Leisure Facilities

Oak Park and Bloxwich Active Living Centres are open on Good Friday and Easter Monday. 

• Good Friday 18 April 2025 - open 7am to 3.30pm.
• Easter Monday 21 April 2025 - open 7am to 3.30pm.

Darlaston and Walsall Gala Swimming and Fitness Centres are closed during the bank holidays. Residents with Walsall gym memberships are welcome to use the facilities at Bloxwich or Oak Park Active Living Centres on these specified days as an alternative.

Walsall Libraries

The following opening and closure times apply to the council’s libraries in Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston, Lichfield Street in Walsall town centre, Streetly and Willenhall.

• Monday 14 April 2025 - closed.
• Tuesday 15 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm.
• Wednesday 16 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm.
• Thursday 17 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm (Streetly Community Library closed as normal on this day).
• Friday 18 April 2025 - closed.
• Saturday 19 April 2025 - closed
• Monday 21 April 2025 - closed.
• Tuesday 22 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm.
• Wednesday 23 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm.
• Thursday 24 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm (Streetly Community Library closed as normal on this day).
• Friday 25 April 2025 - open 8.30am to 6pm.
• Saturday 26 April 2025 - open 9am to 5pm.

Household Waste Collections

Household waste collections are scheduled to proceed as normal on Good Friday and Easter Monday and there will be no changes to grey, green and brown bin collections over the Easter holiday. To check your collection schedule, you can use the postcode finder to check your collection dates. 

There is no change to bulky collections.

Commercial Waste Collections

There will be no change to bin collections for commercial waste customers. Please ensure your bin is available for collection.

Household Waste and Recycling Centres

 Over the holiday period both sites will be very busy. Please use our ‘View the Queue’ camera to check before you visit.

All vans and trailers must be pre-booked.

Residents are reminded to bring proof of being a Walsall resident when visiting either of the HWRCs. The HWRCs do not accept commercial (business) waste.

Walsall Markets

• Walsall Market is open on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 April 2025 from 8.30am to 5pm.
• Bloxwich and Willenhall markets are open on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 April 2025 from 9am to 4pm.
• All three markets are closed on Monday 21April 2025. 

The New Art Gallery Walsall

• Closed Friday 18 April 2025, Sunday 20 April 2025 and Monday 21 April 2025.
• Open Saturday 19 April 2025 from 10am to 5pm.

Walsall Leather Museum 

• Closed on Friday 18 April 2025 and Sunday 20 April 2025.
• Open on Saturday 19 April 2025 from 10am to 5pm.

Walsall Arboretum

The Walsall Arboretum café and visitor centre will be open as usual during the Easter bank holiday weekend from 9am to 3pm.
