Walsall Council announces with great sadness the passing of former Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Rose Burley.
Having lived in Walsall for many decades, Councillor Burley was first elected for Pheasey in 1995 until 2003. After a short break, she returned as a Councillor for Bentley and Darlaston North in 2010. In 2021, she was elected as Mayor of Walsall.
During her municipal year, she supported the Phoenix French Bull Dog Rescue, Alzheimer’s Society and Walsall Foster Carers Association where she raised funds for these charities as part of the Mayor’s Appeal.
“ It is with sadness we received the news of former Mayor, Councillor Rose Burley’s passing.
She dedicated many years of her life to public service and was honoured to share the many activities and events with the people in our borough during her time as Mayor from 2021-2022. She served her community with kindness, loyalty and respect and was valued by everyone who knew her.
On behalf of Walsall Council and the entire borough, I extend our deepest condolences to Rose’s family, friends and former colleagues at this time. “
