Walsall Council marks No Smoking Day with free support services
Published on
Walsall Council is proud to support No Smoking Day today, 13 March 2024, by offering a range of free services to help residents quit smoking.
This year's No Smoking Day presents an opportunity to residents in Walsall to access support which the council is providing to make positive lifestyle changes.
Public Health Walsall offers a variety of resources to empower residents to quit smoking, including Be Well Walsall which provides one-to-one (face-to-face or remote) or group stop smoking support with access to nicotine replacement therapy.
For residents who would like to access digital support, the My Smoke Free Life App offered by MoreLife provides a personalised weekly programme of support, with an option to connect with a stop smoking advisor, and the ability to receive stop smoking treatments directly to your door.
There is also the Walsall Specialist Stop Smoking in Pregnancy Service offered by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which offers behavioural support and treatments specifically designed to help pregnant women quit smoking.
In a further commitment to support Walsall’s health and wellbeing, Walsall Council recently signed the Local Government Tobacco Control Declaration. This declaration reaffirms the council's commitment to making tobacco control a central part of its public health work and taking action to address the harmful effects of smoking as well as ongoing commitments to tackling illicit tobacco.
“ Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. We know it can be challenging, but Walsall Council is here to support you every step of the way.
Quitting smoking has numerous benefits for your health and well-being. You'll start to feel the positive effects within days or weeks, and these benefits continue to improve over time.
If you're ready to quit smoking, our free, funded services are here to help. Contact Be Well Walsall on 01922 444044 to learn more about the free support services available or download the My Smoke Free Life app from the Apple or Google Play stores. Together, we can create a smoke-free future for Walsall. “
