Walsall Council marks Book Club Day UK
Published on
Walsall Council marked Book Club Day UK on Thursday 11 September 2025, an annual celebration created by The Reading Agency to highlight the joy and benefits of reading together.

Book Club Day UK is part of the national Reading Groups for Everyone initiative, and it aims to encourage people to join, start or celebrate their local book clubs. It showcases how reading groups bring people together, support wellbeing, and create connections across communities.
“ Book Club Day UK is a chance to shine a spotlight on the many benefits of reading together. Book clubs give people an opportunity to enjoy stories, discover new authors, and build lasting friendships.
Here in Walsall, our libraries are at the heart of local communities and play a key role in supporting literacy, wellbeing and social connection. I would encourage anyone who has thought about joining a reading group to get in touch with their local library — there has never been a better time to get involved. “
Walsall Libraries already host a wide range of groups and activities designed to encourage people to read more, share stories, and meet others with similar interests. Residents who are interested in joining a reading group, or even starting one of their own, are encouraged to contact their local library to find out what’s available.
