In the evening at 8pm, people across the nation will place a light or candle in their window, in a safe manner, to remember and reflect.

This year commemorates the 80th anniversary of the date of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. It also marks 30 years since the genocide in Bosnia.

“ On Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the millions of victims of genocide across the world.

Discrimination of all kinds continue even today, and we have a shared responsibility to fight this where we see it. By learning from the past, we can continue to work towards making Walsall a welcoming place where everyone feels safe. “

Councillor Garry Perry, Leader of Walsall Council
