Walsall Council is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2026 (NAW 2026), which takes place between Monday 9 to Sunday 15 February. The awareness week highlights the vital role apprenticeships and skills make in driving opportunity, community success, and economic growth across the UK.

This year’s theme, “Skills for Life”, emphasises how apprenticeships empower people at all stages of their careers and equip them with lifelong learning, experience, and confidence.

“ Apprenticeships are a powerful pathway into meaningful careers. By celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, we recognise the achievements of our apprentices and strengthen our community’s commitment to lifelong learning and opportunity.

In Walsall, we continue to work with residents and local employers to explore apprenticeship opportunities and initiatives that aim to break down barriers to skills development whilst also supporting a more skilled, resilient, and prosperous workforce. “

Councillor Mark Statham, Portfolio Holder for Children’s, Families and Education at Walsall Council

Now in its 19th year, NAW highlights how apprenticeships and skills can open doors to exciting and rewarding careers, help businesses build future-ready workforces, and support economic growth by addressing priority skills gaps.

Celebrations in Walsall will bring together apprentices, employers, training providers, educators, parents, and careers’ leaders from across the borough. The week-long celebration showcases the positive impact of apprenticeships on individuals, local business, and the wider community.

Walsall Council will be promoting success stories of apprentices from within the organisation in the hope to inspire residents and local employers to explore more apprenticeship opportunities.

Walsall Council encourages residents, employers, schools, colleges, and training providers to join the celebrations.

Walsall Council also funds an award-winning initiative called Walsall Works. You can find out more about Walsall Works’ apprenticeship opportunities on the website: https://go.walsall.gov.uk/walsall-works/apprenticeships
