Walsall Council Celebrates Appointment of Carol Williams as President of Socitm

Carol Williams, Walsall Council’s Director of Transformation and Digital has been appointed as new president of the Society for Innovation, Technology and Modernisation (Socitm) for 2024/25.
Socitm is a leading network of digital professionals in the public sector, committed to improving services through the effective use of technology.
Carol Williams has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have significantly enhanced the council's digital infrastructure and transformation projects and will now bring her wealth of experience and expertise to a national stage as president of Socitm.
With over three decades of experience in ICT and digital transformation, Carol Williams has been instrumental in driving change and innovation within the public sector.
Since joining Walsall Council in 2007, her original role was Head of ICT Programme Delivery in 2011. Once established the SIRO role introducing Information Governance into the council, she then became Head of ICT, which encompassed IT Strategy, Operations, Information Governance and Programme Delivery.
Her time as Director of Transformation and Digital since July 2021 has seen her implement cutting-edge information management practices and report progress to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team.
Prior to her work at Walsall, Carol made significant contributions at the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, managing an £18m portfolio of change programmes and projects.
Her extensive experience and proven leadership make her a model choice to lead Socitm in fostering technological advancement in the public sector.
