Walsall Archives extends opening hours to provide more access to local history

Walsall Archives has announced an extension of its opening hours, giving residents and researchers more time to delve into the rich history of the borough.
Starting from Friday 19 July 2024, the Archives will be open on Fridays from 10am to 1pm in addition to the existing opening hours of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10am to 4pm.
“ We understand the value of Walsall’s unique history and the importance of making it accessible to everyone, and we are happy to extend access to Walsall's historical treasures, enabling more people to explore the fascinating stories housed within the Archives. Even if you can’t visit us in person, the Archives team will be ready to provide assistance. “
Visitors are encouraged to sign up for a free Archives Card. A free ticket will then be provided, which can be used at Walsall Archives as well as many archive services across the country.
To apply, visit Archives Card online for free. Trained staff will be on hand to assist visitors to apply.
Visitors are also encouraged to book an appointment as spaces are limited. The Archives team want to ensure that the material requested to view is available. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required if visitors wish to view original archive material.
