Successful Jobs and Skills event held at Walsall Rugby Club

Published on

More than 200 people attended a successful community Jobs and Skills event last week.

Jobs Fair at Walsall Rugby Club

Delivered by Walsall Works, the event took place at Walsall Rugby Club, Delves Road, on Thursday, May 23, in a first for the venue.

On the day, support was available for anyone aged 16 or over to kickstart their career by finding out about training opportunities, applying for apprenticeships or getting help with finding employment.

There were eight exhibitors at the event who showcased skills provisions and job vacancies.  These included HSBC Bank, Bluebird Care, Walsall College and Focus Vehicle Services.

Attendees at the event provided positive feedback, with many popping in after dropping off children at a nearby school.

“ This event was a real success and showcased the importance of branching out across the borough to engage with as many people as possible.

“This event has connected over 200 people with opportunities they may not come across on their own.

“I would encourage anyone exploring opportunities to engage with future events to see what is on offer. “

Councillor Pardeep Kaur, Portfolio Holder for Education and Skills at Walsall Council

Next up on the Walsall Works calendar is a Hospitality Open Day which will take place at the Link, Park Street, Walsall Town Centre on June 25, 2024.
