Study to explore wellbeing at work in Walsall

People who work in Walsall are invited to take part in a study that explores health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Walsall Council’s Public Health team and the University of Hertfordshire have teamed up to study health and wellbeing at work in Walsall. The research will help develop support for workplaces, so they are better equipped to promote positive health to their employees.

To help inform the findings, they are inviting people who work in Walsall to take part and share their views and experiences.

The study is being funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research with the University of Hertfordshire working as part of one the Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Teams (PHIRST).

Several factors influence staff health and wellbeing. Employers can play a key role in a number of these, including health and safety, implementation of robust workplace policies and promoting access to initiatives, such as stopping smoking. The research will provide insight into the current level of engagement amongst local employers and employees with all aspects of workplace health and wellbeing and help shape the future offer of support.

Up until the end of November, the research team are particularly looking to hear from people who work in Walsall for a small or medium sized business with between 10 to 249 employees. This also includes those who have not been offered any health and wellbeing support by their employers. The research team will explore the views and experiences of workplace health and wellbeing support through one-to-one interview or group discussions. These can be arranged online, in person or on the telephone, dependent on preferences.  

All participants will be entered into a prize draw to win one of five £25 shopping vouchers. As a thank you for participating in the interviews or focus groups, participants will receive a £10 shopping voucher.
