The classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty cast a spell on Walsall and a record number of tickets were sold for this year’s panto at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre.

In what has become Walsall Arena’s biggest selling family panto ever, with a 20% increase on ticket sales compared to previous years, the 2022 festive season has proved a big hit with audiences.

Ticket prices were kept affordable to make it more accessible for people to attend, with the cost of tickets ranging between £7 and £11.

Sleeping Beauty ran from 9 to 18 December 2022, with 16 performances in total at Walsall Arena and Arts Centre. The show was produced by the Arena along with a professional production team. It featured local, professional performers and a cast of dancers from Walsall College, which Walsall Arena works in partnership with.

Those who attended the panto have described it as an amazing experience for all the family and are already looking forward to next year’s show.

“ Christmas just isn’t Christmas without a panto, and we are delighted that Sleeping Beauty has been such an enormous success. I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the show, including the production team, Walsall Arena staff, cast and crew.

I would also like to thank the community for supporting this year’s show and coming along to see the panto.

An additional thanks go to the staff for their incredible work to build and sustain the popularity of the Arena.

We hope this will encourage more people to support Walsall Arena, whether it’s through purchasing a ticket for a show or hiring the facilities. “
