Significant regeneration delivered across Walsall’s communities as borough-wide investment gathers pace
Published on
Walsall Council’s ambitious regeneration programme continues to deliver major improvements across the wider borough, with new community facilities, park refurbishments, enterprise spaces and neighbourhood investment all progressing at pace throughout 2025.
Beyond the large-scale works underway in Walsall town centre, projects in Bloxwich, Willenhall, Darlaston and across local employment areas are now providing visible and meaningful benefits to residents supporting learning, recreation, business development and long-term renewal.
Bloxwich: Community Spaces, Parks and Enterprise
Bloxwich has continued to benefit from Town Deal investment. Bloxwich Launcpad opened in September 2025, is already supporting entrepreneurs and start-up businesses with workspace, mentoring and skills programmes. Early performance has exceeded expectations, with strong interest from local people seeking flexible working space, including open collaboration and presentation spaces, plus specialist printers in the reprographics room.
As well as providing digital access to all areas in the community, so far, over 360 people have been through the doors to receive support with digital skills, and 15 businesses have taken up home in the business incubation facility upstairs.
The Greening Bloxwich programme has also delivered improvements to parks and play areas, including refurbishment works at Bloxwich and Leamore Parks. Families can now enjoy modernised play equipment, new seating, improved pathways and enhanced landscaping. These improvements create more welcoming spaces for exercise, play and community events, supporting health and wellbeing for residents.
Willenhall: First Steps Towards the Locksmith Quarter
Progress continues on the Willenhall Framework Plan, focusing on developing the Locksmith Quarter and revitalising the town centre. Preparation work for demolition began in October 2025, including site surveys, utility disconnections, asbestos removal and clearing fly-tipped materials.
The first building demolition is scheduled for early 2026, marking a visible milestone in reshaping this area with new homes, public spaces and commercial activity.
Both Willenhall and Darlaston are also benefitting from improved regional connectivity, with two new railway stations now under construction bringing rail services back to the areas for the first time in 60 years. Both are due to open in 2026 to help strengthen transport links, boost local business opportunities and support residents travelling for work, education or recreationally.
Darlaston: Residents shaping future neighbourhood investment
In Darlaston, community consultation is live throughout December as part of the Darlaston Plan for Neighbourhoods. Residents are being invited to share their views and ideas on the next four years of investment, with the survey closing on 31 December 2025.
Subject to final approvals, the first funded projects are expected to move into delivery during 2026.
SPARK and Strategic Growth
In November 2025, construction completed on the first buildings at SPARK, Walsall’s flagship cluster for enterprise, innovation and advanced manufacturing.
SPARK represents a major strategic investment in the borough’s economic future, supporting growth sectors, new jobs and opportunities for local people. The completion of initial buildings marks an important step in bringing high-value employment space forward and attracting new businesses into Walsall.
“ Regeneration is not just about the town centre it’s about making every part of Walsall a great place to live, work and build a future. The progress we’ve made this year in Bloxwich, Willenhall, Darlaston and through SPARK shows our commitment to investing in all our communities. We are delivering projects that create opportunity and improve things for residents. The next year will see even more progress, with the support of local people continuing to shape the improvements they want to see. “
