Residents asked to help shape plans for new 3G football pitch in Bloxwich

Walsall Council invites residents, businesses and community groups to share their views on an exciting next step in the transformation of King George V (KGV) Playing Fields in Bloxwich.

As well as the wider redevelopment plans for the playing fields, plans are being fleshed out for a new 3G (third generation) Artificial Grass Pitch, suitable for 11, 9 and 7‑a‑side football. The pitch will be fully fenced, floodlit and supported by on‑site storage facilities.

The Council is now launching a public survey to help shape how the new 3G football pitch will operate. Feedback will directly influence plans for management of the pitch including access, types of activities offered, and opening hours.

“ It’s great news for Bloxwich that we will be installing a new 3G football pitch in King George V Playing Fields. We want to hear views from everyone so I’d urge as many local people as possible to have their say on how the new pitch will operate and help shape plans that work for our communities. “

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader
Walsall Council

The council is calling for views and opinions from everyone; whether you are a regular KGV visitor, live or work nearby or simply have an interest in the future of local community facilities. The survey is available online.

Paper copies of the survey are also available at Bloxwich Launchpad, Bloxwich Library, The Local Hub, Bloxwich Active Living Centre, The Stan Bull Centre and Love Blakenall Community Centre.

The closing date for responses is: Monday 27 April 2026.

King George V Playing Fields will see significant upgrades in the coming months, including a new Pavilion and opportunities for a café, events facilities and improved changing facilities and toilets. The park itself will benefit from a new artificial sports pitch and multi-use games areas, improved parking and general enhancements to the landscaping of the park. Work is scheduled to begin on 23 March 2026 and is part of the £25m government -funded Bloxwich Town Deal.
