Councillor Edward Lee, Portfolio Holder for Internal Resources. will present a report to members on Monday 13 January 2025.

A key success which will be highlighted is the implementation of the Core Technology Platform, which enables residents to access a selection of services online 24/7.

Walsall Council’s chatbot ‘WALIS’ was also upgraded, allowing the LiveChat Service to automatically translate to different languages. This development has further improved accessibility, particularly for non-English speakers.

Meanwhile, more than 9 million pages and/or images have been digitalised, enabling better access to records and delivering significant financial savings.

“ I often refer to my portfolio as the ‘engine room’ of the council.

“None of the work we do would be possible without our incredible and talented workforce who are our greatest and most valued asset.

“Moving forward, we will develop an action plan to deliver our new EDI Strategy. Updates on the progress of this will be provided through my Portfolio Holder briefings.

"The council is also continuing to go digital, with the goal of removing all paper records by late 2025. “
