Following disruption by members of the public at a planning committee meeting held this week (30 October 2023), Walsall Council is reviewing its arrangements for managing the public gallery.
“ Our priority is the safety of members of the public and officers who attend council meetings while ensuring that democracy can take place. Threatening and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
It is important to us that our residents are able to attend council meetings and see for themselves local democracy in action. But following the disruption on Monday, we are reviewing our arrangements for managing the public gallery. “
