Nursery in Darlaston expansion creates 30 additional places
Published on
30 additional early years places have been created at a nursery in Walsall.
The Darlaston Day Nursery on Bilston Street, has undergone an expansion project to create additional spaces for under 5s.
The nursery, part of Walsall Childcare, received a grant from Walsall Council to expand its premises, as part of ongoing efforts to create more early years places in the borough.
As part of the expansion, the nursery has been able to grow its kitchen space and facilities, and develop existing learning spaces for babies, toddlers, pre-school, and children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The nursery also has an in-house resident artist to support the children with their creative activities and facilitates art therapy for staff and children.
Speaking about the nursery’s expansion, Debbie Clarke from Walsall Childcare said, “The funding has allowed us to care of more families in Darlaston, as well as provide a much needed after school provision.
“The building work has enhanced our provision massively. The after-school offer has been welcomed greatly by the local community, and we are proud to support the local authority with the expansion programme for childcare in Walsall.”
“ It’s great to see our childcare settings expanding and offering more places for children in Walsall.
The council is fully supportive of the national early years expansion programme, and this is great example of how by working closely with childcare providers, we’re developing the best possible access to childcare in the borough. “
The grant funding has also created 20 after school places for a number of schools in the nearby area.
