Nearly 1000 people attend successful Walsall Works Expo

Hundreds of people explored job and education opportunities at the Walsall Works Expo, organised by Walsall Council.

The event, which took place on Thursday 12 September, was officially opened by Councillor Pardeep Kaur, Portfolio Holder for Education and Skills at Walsall Council.   

More than 70 employers and training providers were in attendance on the day. Many exhibitors were attending the Expo for the first time including Morgan Sindall, Lidl, One Stop, Walsh Funerals & Memorials, Mission Accomplished, Althaus Digital, Titan Recruitment, Tudor Employment, Ibstock, CECOS and Tag Construction.   

“ It was great to open the Expo and see such a great turnout in person.

“These events are exactly what is needed to offer people opportunities in both work and education.

“This Expo alone has connected nearly 1000 people with more than 70 different exhibitors and I’m sure people who attended will have benefitted from the day. “

The Walsall Works Expo is one of the largest job fairs in the West Midlands and helps hundreds of residents to connect with employers, training providers and partner agencies. With over twelve years of experience, Walsall Works has been delivering vital employment connections to the people of Walsall and wider.  

 Victoria Beddows, employment outreach lead for Transport for West Midlands, said, “I attend many job fairs across the region to promote our Workwise scheme to offer free or discounted travel to those seeking or starting new jobs.  I can categorically say the EXPO is one of the best in terms of numbers, the diverse nature of the people attending and the organisation.”  

Three group information sessions are scheduled to take place at Lichfield Street Hub Library from 10am on the following dates.     

  • Group Information Session – 17/10/24 – Performance through People – Welding provision  
  • Group Information Session – 17/10/24 – Performance through People – Teaching Assistant provision    
  • Group Information Session – 17/10/24 – Titan Recruitment – Driving / Industrial / Technical vacancies
