More than 1000 trees planted at Reedswood Park community planting event
Published on
A highly successful community tree planting event at Reedswood Park on Cavendish Road organised by Walsall Council, saw over 1000 whips planted thanks to the help of various community members and organisations.
The aim was to establish a broadleaf native woodland that will enhance biodiversity, ecological resilience, and provide a scenic space for the community to appreciate. This was achieved with the help of residents from the local area (including young children), Walsall Conservation Volunteers, students and teachers from Trinity Specialist College, and participants from The Woodland Trust.
The trees have been strategically planted to create a walkway around the edge. As they grow, a central space within the woodland could potentially serve as an outdoor classroom. This eco-friendly initiative is anticipated to attract more wildlife and enhance the visual appeal of the area.
“ We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to all individuals involved in this tree planting endeavour and recognise the invaluable support of the Woodland Trust's MOREWoods Scheme and the West Midlands Combined Authority Funding, which made this project a reality. As the trees flourish, we eagerly anticipate the positive impact they will have on the local environment and community. “
