With February being the month of hearts, residents are invited to discover their heart health at an upcoming event in Walsall town centre.

‘I Heart Health’, a Heart Health Awareness event, will be taking place during half term on Thursday 23 February, 11am-4pm at the Saddlers Shopping Centre.

I Heart Health will offer an opportunity for people to get involved in several activities, including a free health assessment for those who would like information about their own health and advice on making simple choices to live an active and healthier life.

Families and shoppers visiting Walsall are also welcome to take part, where there will be a variety of free activities to try out, including children’s activities, taster golf, cycling, tai chi and bowls. Free giveaways including a limited number of Saddlers Happy Healthy Hampers consisting of fresh fruit and vegetables will be handed out to all those who attend and participate in an activity.

The Ping Pong Parlour, which opened last August at the Saddlers Shopping Centre, will also be open.

A variety of organisations will also attend to offer advice on overall health and wellbeing.

“ One of our aims is to improve the health and wellbeing of our Walsall residents and looking after your heart health is one way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

We hope this one-day event will be an opportunity for residents to take up a free health assessment provided by specialists from One You Walsall. It only takes a few minutes and it will help you understand your numbers such as blood pressure, BMI and overall wellbeing.

You can also try out a number of free sports activities and have conversations with local organisations who offer them.

Everyone is welcome to drop in at any time between 11am and 4pm, where the event will be located on the lower floor of the Saddlers Centre. “
