The town’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on, after a community countdown, by local special guest, Married At First Sight (MAFS) star, Sacha Jones.

“ My Christmas wish this year is to see Walsall, a town we are all proud of, shine bright with lights and laughter. We expect to see families with children of all ages joining us, and need as many voices as possible to count us down to our official light switch on. “

The Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Louise Harrison

Ahead of the event, a special light projection show, called Illuminatewhich is part of the MakerFest Fringe, will light up The Crossing in St Paul’s from 4.45pm.

For more family fun before the big lights show, residents can enjoy the Makerfest Fringe events taking place throughout the day, and a special appearance from Santa Claus.

Father Christmas will be at the Saddlers Shopping Centre between 11am and 4pm. Visits are free of charge and little ones can share their festive wishes in person with the main man himself, as well as write and send letters in a special post box which goes direct from Walsall to the North Pole.

The festive fun does not stop there, with Walsall MakerFest Fringe providing makers’ markets and crafting workshop drop-in sessions, and live music and dance performances in the early evening.
