The council’s fly-tipping taskforce has discovered takeaway-related shop waste dumped illegally on Delves Green Road, WS5. The waste was found discarded between a field and an allotment site off the A4148 Broadway. This fly-tipping has become a recurring issue, with similar waste also spotted on the neighbouring Alexandra Road, and North Street near Walsall town centre.

The waste on Delves Green Road is currently cordoned off under the council’s ‘EnviroCrime’ initiative. This initiative treats illegally dumped waste as a crime-scene to deter further dumping and encourage the culprit to return and dispose of it properly. By making the fly-tipping visible and inconvenient, the council hopes to discourage future incidents.

“ Delves Green Road, Alexandra Road and North Street are all busy locations. If you have any dash camera/doorbell footage, or witnessed the fly-tipping incidents directly, we urge you to come forward.

Given the nature of the fly-tipped waste, we believe the culprit may be connected to a takeaway business in Walsall, possibly a delivery driver. Any information you can provide could be crucial in our investigation to prosecute the person responsible for this blight on our community.

Councillor Garry Perry, Leader of Walsall Council

This September, the council is focusing its investigation efforts on fly-tipping in St Matthews, Palfrey, and Pleck. Council officers have been proactively addressing resident reports in these areas, which is where this recent incident was discovered.

If you have any information on this fly-tipping incident, please contact Walsall Council by emailing Flytipping@walsall.gov.uk.
