Have your say on the Darlaston Plan for Neighbourhoods

Published on

Darlaston residents can now find out more about the plan, and have their say on the consultation on the Darlaston Plan website

A road sign that says Darlaston

In 2023 it was announced that Darlaston would be one of 55 overlooked towns in the country to receive a £20million government investment to spend over 10 years.

An independent board, chaired by Manjit Jhooty, will oversee how the £20million is spent, ensuring local needs are met as Walsall Council supports the board to prepare its regeneration plan.

The Darlaston Plan for Neighbourhoods board brings together community and resident representatives alongside local schools, businesses, health services, law enforcement, and councillors.

“ I have assembled a strong group of community leaders that I believe best represent the interests of the Darlaston community, and I look forward to working with them to deliver a programme of investment that will revitalise Darlaston and create opportunities for local people. “

No plans have been made yet on how the investment will be spent, and no money has been set aside or earmarked for any specific projects. The board will make decisions on how the money is spent following consultation with residents.

The board must submit its regeneration plan for Darlaston to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government by the end of February 2026. This deadline is critical to unlock funding for delivery starting in April 2026.

Walsall Council remains committed to a neighbourhood-led approach, with mechanisms in place to ensure technical expertise, community voice, and public accountability are embedded throughout the programme.
