The Multiply courses are delivered through Walsall Works, an award-winning initiative funded by Walsall Council, which supports local people to find jobs, apprenticeships and access training.

Multiply is available to those who are aged 19+ and are currently employed or about to start work, with the courses concentrating on applied functional math skills.

“ Numbers are part of everyday life when it comes to dealing with things like bills, wages or even household budgets.

"There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to understand something that you just can’t get your head around and the aim of our ‘Multiply’ programme is to boost people’s confidence to use maths and numbers effectively.

"It’s a great opportunity for people to gain support and I would encourage anyone interested to explore what options are available to them. “

Councillor Mark Statham, Portfolio Holder for Education and Skills at Walsall Council,

Funded by the Department for Education (DfE), the ‘Multiple’ programme can be attended either in person or online, during work hours or evenings, part-time or intensive.

The courses can be accessed by adults without a GCSE grade of C/4 or higher in maths and are designed to help boost confidence and ability to use maths and numbers effectively in daily life, at home and at work. Sessions are held in a no-pressure environment to provide the opportunity for people to get comfortable with numeracy at their own pace.

Employers interested in boosting their workforce's skills can also get involved, with training providers able to offer programs for the workforce that can be designed and delivered at no cost to the employer.
