Free digital support for parents and families in Walsall

Families in Walsall are reminded of the free digital support that is available to them, to help with everyday parenting support and guidance.

As well as in-person support, the council, along with its partners, offers a wide range of help through the means of technology, making use of apps and online guidance to support the borough’s parents and carers.

Baby Buddy

Parents and carers can download the free Baby Buddy app to support them with all-things parenting.

Designed to support mums, dads, and carers, the app helps parents build their confidence and parenting knowledge from conception up to a child’s first birthday.

Baby Buddy is a hub of information and can help you with things such as feeding, talk and play, mental health, and local services near to you.

The app is personalised, allowing parents to set up their own profile for their baby, and offers a local directory of support services in Walsall.

Baby Buddy is trusted and endorsed by health professionals, including the Royal College of Midwives.

DadPad

DadPad is a free app for new fathers and fathers-to-be and is designed to provide dads with all the knowledge, help and practical skills they need to thrive in fatherhood.

Aiming to help fathers navigate their emotions when becoming a new parent, DadPad provides resources so dads, their partner, and their baby can have the best possible start in life.

Launched in 2012, DadPad was developed with support from the NHS, and includes information on topics such as: holding your baby, how to deal with crying, sleeping, and changing and how fathers can create secure and safe bonds with their babies.

EasyPeasy

Easy Peasy app

The EasyPeasy app provides parenting tips and activities and is designed for families with children aged 0 -5 years. The app brings together the best ideas, advice, and inspiration from a global community of parents, experts, and well-known early years brands.

The EasyPeasy philosophy is evidence-based and simple: early child development is fuelled by real-world interactions between you and your child.

Families can register for a free account by going to the EasyPeasy website. You can also download the app for free from the Apple or Google Play store.

 

Solihull Approach

Solihull approach

The Solihull Approach is about emotional health and wellbeing for all children, their parents, carers, and grandparents.

The Solihull approach provides evidence-based, free online courses across a wide range of topics which are designed for parents with children of all ages, from expecting a baby right up until their child is 19 years old.

The online training is the same content as a face-to-face course and is offered in over 100 languages.

Courses include:

  • Supporting emotional health and wellbeing from 0-19+
  • Understanding your child and teenager
  • Understanding your child with additional needs
  • Understanding your teenager’s brain
  • Understanding your relationships
  • Understanding your own trauma
