Four individuals taken to court for littering in Walsall

Walsall Council has successfully prosecuted four individuals for littering offences following court hearings.
All four cases resulted in fines after the defendants failed to pay Fixed Penalty Notices issued for depositing and leaving litter in public places across the borough.
The cases were heard at Birmingham & Solihull Magistrates’ Court on 18 February 2026, none of the four perpetrators reside in Walsall.
Ms Tamara Henry, of Prince Rupert Mews, Lichfield, was convicted for depositing litter on 5 August 2025 in Daw End Lane, Rushall, Walsall. She was ordered to pay a £220 fine, £88 victim surcharge and £276.72 in costs, totalling £584.72.
Mr Abdul Samadh Hussain, of Pound Road, Oldbury, was convicted for depositing litter on 30 July 2025 in Wallows Lane, Walsall. He was ordered to pay a £220 fine, £88 victim surcharge and £276.72 in costs, totalling £584.72.
Mr Sidane Johnson, of Ivy House Road, Oldbury, was convicted for depositing litter on 10 August 2025 in Reedswood Way, Walsall. His guilty plea was taken into account by the court. He was ordered to pay a £166 fine, £66 victim surcharge and £276.72 in costs, totalling £508.72.
Mr Owen Karidza, of Lancaster Way, Cofton Hackett, Birmingham, was convicted for depositing litter on 30 July 2025 in High Street, Pelsall, Walsall. He was ordered to pay a £184 fine, £73 victim surcharge and £276.72 in costs, totalling £533.72.
“ A large number of Fixed Penalty Notices are paid without the need for court action, but where individuals ignore them, we will not hesitate to prosecute.
“What jumps out with these results is none of these perpetrators are from Walsall. It is deeply frustrating to see people come to our home and treat it with such disrespect. I am glad these individuals will now pay a hefty price.
“Littering is unacceptable and we will take action against those who fail to dispose of their waste responsibly. “
Revenue from fines is reinvested into enforcement activity, including investigations and action to tackle environmental crime across the borough.
Residents can dispose of waste responsibly using Walsall’s Household Waste Recycling Centres or by booking the council’s bulky item collection service.
