On Monday 20 June 2022, Walsall Council is raising the Armed Forces Flag in advance of Armed Forces Day, which takes place on Saturday 25 June 2022.

A special flag-raising ceremony will take place from 10.15am outside the Council House. The Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Rose Martin, will raise the Armed Forces Flag in a short service to recognise and celebrate the contribution of all those who serve or have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

In attendance will be Deputy Lieutenant David Frost CBE DL.

Members of the public are invited to attend and watch the procession outside the Council House and show their support. The ceremony has been organised by Walsall Council and there will be a military fanfare performed by a bugler followed by the raising of the flag and a minute’s silence.

“ I’m looking forward to marking Armed Forces Day and meeting a number of veterans. It’s important to show our continued support and gratitude for those men and women who serve, or have served, in the armed forces. This event is a way to show our respect for those who fight for our country and will be a truly moving ceremony, which I am honoured to be hosting. “
