Kaushalya UK, a community organisation dedicated to empowering women from all backgrounds and cultures, provides a range of wellbeing, personal development and domestic abuse support services. Their work focuses on creating opportunities for women to grow personally and professionally, promoting good health, and raising awareness of domestic abuse and its impacts.

Kaushalya UK is delivering Let’s Talk Happiness funded by Walsall Council’s mental wellbeing team in Public Health. The mental health and wellbeing project aims to create inclusive, stigma-free, community based mental wellbeing support for women, young people, neurodivergent individuals, older adults and dementia groups and Walsall residents experiencing anxiety, isolation or depression.

The project has been running in Bentley and Walsall town centre twice a week since October 2025. It focuses on topics such as the foundations of mental wellbeing, coping strategies and social connection, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing, resilience, practical skills, sustainable wellbeing and reflection.

Support has been delivered through workshops and seminars, therapeutic sessions, peer support groups and community engagement activities. Sessions have been tailored to the group’s needs to ensure accessibility, language inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.

Feedback from participants emphasised how much the community needs this kind of support and expresses gratitude for having access to the Let’s Talk Happiness programme. Attendees shared that they are enjoying the variety of activities offered so far and highlighted a desire for translated sessions to better support those facing language barriers.

“It’s had a big impact on my health and wellbeing.”

“The sessions are something to look forward to by learning new skills with knowledge. I just love the group I’m with. They are such a joy and bring colour into my life.”

“They have helped me be confident, positive and connected to others. Attending the group is my escape from my daily pressures from home.”

“ Women in Walsall want to feel heard, respected and supported when it comes to their health and wellbeing.

Kaushalya UK’s work is a powerful example of how community-based support tailored to the cultures and needs of women can help build confidence, resilience and a deeper understanding of their own health.

By creating safe, inclusive spaces where women can talk openly about their mental wellbeing, we are not only improving individual lives but strengthening families and communities. As we continue our wider women’s health campaign, this work is vital in making sure every woman, at every stage of life, has the information, support and opportunities she needs to thrive. “
