Walsall residents and groups with an idea to improve their community can leverage Crowdfund Walsall to raise fund. To date, the Council has allocated a total of £60,000 to the programme, with up to £3,500 available per idea to boost projects towards their funding target.

The previous funding rounds saw over £24,000 pledged towards 10 community-led ideas, including Walsall Wombles litter picking project, Walsall Memory Jar project and Willenhall Lock Stock music festival.

For Round 3 in 2022, Walsall Council was able to provide pledges from the Walsall Community Heritage Fund and Walsall Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund for projects in celebration of Her Majesty The Queens’s 70-year reign.

“ In just 12 months, Crowdfund Walsall has gone from strength to strength. It has part funded almost £60,000 worth of exciting projects that the local community have put forward which have made a significant impact across the borough. Local people understand the challenges in their local area but also have the solutions, and all made possible by harnessing the ‘will of the crowd’ and placing them firmly in the driving seat. “

We have welcomed our largest project to date this round; The Nectar Room is raising a whopping £18,628 to create a 250m walk around a wildflower meadow. This will be a discovery trail with butterfly banks, habitat piles and other points of interest to include movement and interest. The second phase will include a new outdoor bird-hide/community hub building with added outdoor benches which will act as a meeting place and learning centre. An area of secondary woodland will also become a bird feeding station, habitat boxes for birds and bats installed on trees and a community orchard created. The project has now reached their target but is continuing to fundraise for their overfunding costs of seating and further woodland restoration.

We’ve had an incredible response, the projects currently fundraising are;

The Nectar Room, Bloxwich Platinum Jubilee Celebration, We are Bloxwich, Equipping Walsall Wood FC, Save Pelsall Community Centre’s Floor and Migrant Memories; Our bildungsroman.

After receiving a pledge from the Walsall Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund, The Willenhall Jubilee Transport Show and Short Heath Jubilee Allotment projects have both reached and exceeded their project targets. The Willenhall Jubilee Transport Show received a pledge of £1,745 enabling them to raise £3,596 an amazing 142% of their target and the Short Heath Jubilee Allotment project received a pledge of £2,000 and they went on to raise a total of £4,018, 122% of their target.

To support Crowdfund Walsall projects such as Equipping Walsall Wood FC and Save Pelsall Community Centre’s floor, please go to:  www.spacehive.com/movement/crowdfund-walsall/projects. Pledges can be from as little as £2.
