Council officer shortlisted for 2023 National Facilitator Awards
Published on
Alan Savill who works for Walsall Council in the Early help team has been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s National Facilitator Awards. The results will be announced at an awards event at York Racecourse on Friday 17 November 2023.
Alan works on the reducing parental conflict programme at Walsall Council and he also trains police officers in understanding coercive controlling behaviour and numerous suicide prevention courses across the UK.
Alan is shortlisted in the "Making an impact" category. The aim of the awards is to celebrate facilitators who deliver impactful, values-led training and to highlight the impact quality training can have in the lives of people.
“ It's a huge honour to be recognised for something which I feel so passionately about. I've trained reducing parental conflict courses all over the UK, but I was always drawn back to Walsall because of the wonderful people who work there and their drive and determination to make lives better for children, young people, and their parents. All of my training is to try and address social justice and if I can make even one person safer then I have done what I have always strived to do. “
Alan is also running for the ‘Live Facilitator of the Year’ award. This involves presenting for forty minutes in front of distinguished guests, who will vote for their favourite.
“ This is the first year of these awards and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate brilliant facilitators from across the UK. The judging panel had a tough job shortlisting the entries as the quality of the applications, nominations and the skills shown by the facilitators who entered was impressive and inspiring. I personally cannot wait for the awards ceremony when I'll get to meet all the candidates who are taking our industry forward in the most exciting ways. “

Notes to Editor
The National Facilitator Awards aim to celebrate and elevate all those unsung heroes, all the facilitators and trainers who are breaking barriers, working outside the ‘norm’, and working for excellence.
Training is often undervalued and seen as a tick-box exercise. The right facilitator can deliver training that can transform teams, organisations and even lives. The aim is to raise the profile of exceptional facilitators and give them the national recognition they deserve.
The founders of the events are Tammy Banks of Taye Training and Lorna Reeves of MyOhMy Events.
