Calling on Walsall’s young people to design anti-Hate Crime poster for the borough
Published on
A poster competition has opened to Walsall’s secondary schools and young people to design an anti-Hate Crime poster for the borough.
The council is working with Black Country Innovate CIC to design a poster which promotes united, respectful, kind and tolerant communities in Walsall.
The council is asking secondary schools to submit entries by 20 December 2024, and prizes will be gifted to 5 winners at Walsall’s first ever Hate Crime conference in January 2025.
“ Hate has no place in our borough.
No one should be attacked for who they are, or who they are perceived to be.
Our children and young people have a great amount of influence over how we can stamp out Hate Crime in the future.
This is another piece of work that Black Country Innovate CIC is working on with our communities to reduce hate, and we believe that we can help shape positive attitudes and challenge harmful narratives by engaging with our young people creatively.
Through the Anti-Hate Crime poster competition, students will have the opportunity to express their ideas about what a community free from hate looks like, and how we can work together to achieve it.
Secondary schools in Walsall, please get involved! “
Black Country Innovate CIC is working with its stakeholders on a range of initiatives to reduce hate in our communities. This includes raising awareness of hate crime at community events, training for professionals on awareness and prevention, and the creation of a Hate Crime Strategy, which will be launched at the first ever Hate Crime Conference in Walsall next year.
