Call for community support in Walsall’s parks and greenspaces
Published on
Walsall Council is committed to improving the borough’s green spaces and is encouraging residents to come forward to help ensure these spaces create a vibrant and engaging outdoor environment for communities.
The council has been actively working on a programme to install and enhance outdoor gym and play areas across the borough, following consultation with residents.
In October 2024, several sites were vandalised, including equipment in Reedswood Park and King George V Playing Fields, which have been damaged by arson. Replacement costs are estimated to be in the region of £95,000.
Despite this setback, the ambition remains for a secure, resilient, cleaner and greener Walsall, and people and places are prioritised.
“ We want everyone to take pride in the borough and pride in their surroundings. I would encourage residents to consider how they can support their local parks and green spaces.
We also need everyone to take a stand against antisocial behaviour. If you become aware of any criminal damage or vandalism or have information about suspicious activity, please report it to our Community Protection team or the police. If you wish to remain anonymous, reports can be made to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
Please help us to achieve our vision of making Walsall a vibrant place where people are proud to live and residents in all neighbourhoods have the same life chances. “
Residents can find out more about volunteering opportunities in parks and green spaces, including details of Friends Groups on the council website.
Reports of vandalism, criminal damage or other anti-social behaviour can be reported to the Community Protection team by emailing CommunityProtection@walsall.gov.uk or calling 01922 653060.
