Business breakfast event celebrates partnership between Walsall Council and local businesses
Published on
On Wednesday 19 March 2025, Walsall Council’s Business Growth Team invited businesses from across the borough to a breakfast networking event to celebrate achievements and partnership working.
For 2024-25, Walsall Council’s Business Growth Team has supported 56 local businesses to access grants designed to help boost productivity. The funding on offer has supported businesses to either purchase equipment or make improvements to their premises to reduce utility bills and move towards Net Zero.
£1.051M in total was awarded from the SME competitiveness grant and £0.349M from the Net Zero grant in 2024/25.
The business breakfast event, opened by Associate Leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Adrian Andrew, was attended by over 20 Walsall-based businesses and provided an opportunity to celebrate the partnership working between the council and local businesses and to network.
“ It’s really important that, as a council, we keep an open dialogue with local businesses and nurture these relationships. If local businesses are thriving, it means that there’s money coming into the borough and there’s jobs and opportunities for local people.
I am really proud of the work our Business Growth Team does every day and it’s great to network with those local businesses and hear how the support has made a real tangible difference. I look forward to continuing these relationships and to the continued success of Walsall businesses “
Among those businesses present at the event was Pascon Ltd, a Walsall based contractor delivering electrical connections and power upgrades.
Pascon identified a need to upgrade their IT server, which was inefficient and had caused a reduction in productivity due to IT outages and slow response times. Walsall Council was able to help Pascon to access grant funding to upgrade the server. The positive impact this upgrade has had on their productivity and client satisfaction has meant that they’ve even been able to increase their workforce, creating job opportunities for local people.
“ Walsall Council’s Business Growth Team’s support has been invaluable. We are truly grateful for the unwavering commitment the team shows to learning about our business needs and the challenges that we face in order to offer tangible support.
Through the team’s support we were successful in applying for a grant that meant we could upgrade our server, which has increased IT reliability, reduced customer response time and provided faster data exchange. It’s been a game changer! “
