Advice to stay well as amber heat health alert issued for West Midlands
Published on
With high temperatures forecasted, Walsall residents are advised to take steps to stay well during the hot weather, as the UK Health Security Agency (in partnership with the Met Office) issues an amber heat health alert for the West Midlands. The alert is in place from Friday 11 July to Monday 14 July.

High temperatures can pose a risk to health, particularly for older adults, young children and individuals with long-term health conditions who may need extra help to stay cool.
“ As warmer weather is forecast, there are things we can do to stay well. Keep indoor spaces cool by closing curtains or blinds that face the sun and check in on family, friends and neighbours if they need additional support.
If you’re heading outside, carry bottled water, apply sunscreen regularly and avoid the sun during peak hours between 11am and 3pm.
It is also important to notice the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. If you or someone else begins to feel unwell, dizzy, weak, or extremely thirsty, move to a cooler place, rehydrate and rest.
For more health advice, visit NHS 111 online or call 111. In an emergency, call 999. “
