Get an immigration property inspection
You may need to get a property inspection when you apply for entry clearance into the United Kingdom. The UK Border Agency requests these inspections, but does not carry them out.
We offer an immigration inspection service for properties in Walsall Borough. We can inspect the property that you, or someone you are inviting to the UK, plan to live in. There is a charge for this service, which you can find on our fees and charges page. We can only provide the service when staff are available.
If the property meets the required standards then we will issue a confirmation letter, which you can use as part of a visa application.
What an inspection involves
We will ask for the personal details of the person coming into the UK. This includes:
- their date of birth
- information relating to their travel passport
- information about those who are currently occupying the property that is to be inspected
We will visit the property to inspect it. We check if the property is safe, in a good state of repair and doesn't pose a health and safety risk. We will also assess whether the property would become overcrowded if more people were to move in.
We will ask you to show us around your property, outlining who occupies the house, and which rooms they sleep in.
When we inspect, we will ask to see proof of your ownership or tenancy of the property. If you own the property, we will need to see (any of the following):
- the title deeds
- mortgage statement
- correspondence from your mortgage provider
If you rent the property, then we will need to see (both of the following):
- a current tenancy agreement
- a utility bill in your name at the address
