Personal budgets and direct payments
People who have been assessed as having eligible needs for social care support within the community from their local council must receive a personal budget.
You can find more information on the NHS website.
What is a personal budget?
A personal budget is the amount of money we allocate to meet your identified needs and agreed outcomes following a care and support assessment. There are 3 options:
- A managed account - we can manage your personal budget and choose your care services on your behalf.
- You can use part or all of your personal budget as a direct payment.
- A mixed package is combination of both of the above.
What is a direct payment?
Direct payments are monetary payments to help promote independence, choice and control. These payments are made directly to you (or someone on your behalf) if agreed by Walsall Council.
Direct payments can be used in a wide range of creative ways as long as it is safe and legal to do so.
