Guidance for international workers in the care industry
Guidance for employers
If you’re an employer and you want to recruit international care workers, you’ll need to get a licence.
Read UK visa sponsorship for employers to understand how to apply for a licence and what you must do as a sponsor.
Your responsibilities as an employer
As an employer, you have a legal responsibility to make sure your staff are treated fairly and in line with UK employment law. This includes:

- paying staff correctly and on time
- giving payslips that clearly show pay and any deductions
You’ll also need to make sure that:
- working hours, rest breaks and time off meet legal requirements
- any deductions from pay are lawful, agreed where required, and clearly shown
