Rushall junction (A461) improvement consultation
You said, We did
201 responses were received, with over 100 residents attending the in-person consultation event. Initial analysis of the consultation feedback indicates that there is widespread support for improving the junction, and the measures outlined through the consultation were well received. Feedback was noted on a number of issues including red-light running, lane discipline and signing, which will be incorporated into the next design stage.
We are looking at ways to improve Rushall junction. This is where Lichfield Road, Station Road, Daw End Lane and Pelsall Lane meet.
Rushall junction is a busy part of Walsall’s road network. It connects:
- Walsall town centre to the north of the borough and Lichfield
- Bloxwich and Aldridge
It's also the local centre for Rushall's shops and facilities.
We know the junction has problems, especially at busy times. These include:
- heavy traffic and long delays
- some drivers running red lights
- a lack of safe or easy places for people to cross the road
Although funding has not yet been confirmed, we hope to secure investment to deliver the proposals.
What we want to achieve
The aim of this scheme is to:
- reduce the number of traffic collisions
- reduce traffic congestion
- make it easier and safer for people to walk and cycle
You can find more details in our Rushall Junction consultation booklet.
Consultation took place from 23 February to 20 March 2026.
The consultation aims were to:
- tell you about our outline plans for the junction
- understand how you feel about a scheme here
- collect feedback on the design and any suggested changes
- learn about any issues you want us to consider
