Apply to volunteer with the Early Help service

Overview

We are looking for volunteers to help with:

  • family support
  • Early Years support
  • SEND family support
  • healthy lifestyle support
  • supporting or running parenting groups

This is an unpaid volunteer role. We will cover the costs of:

  • mileage
  • bus travel
  • pre agreed expenses

You must be 18 years of age or over to apply.

We require an enhanced DBS check for these roles. We will process the DBS application for you if you’re successful.

How to apply

    If possible, you should ask 2 people if they will provide you with a reference.

    You should ask your referees for their consent before giving us their details. Let them know you want to share their details with us for the purpose of a reference for a role to volunteer with Walsall Council Early Help.

    Your referees:

    • should be able to give their opinion about your suitability for a role as a volunteer
    • should not be family members
    • can be people who know you well
    • do not have to be professional people (but you can ask professionals to be your referees if you wish)
  3. Send us your application

    Attach your completed form to an email, and send it to: EarlyHelpVolunteers@walsall.gov.uk

What happens next

We will process your application form when we receive it. We may contact you if we need extra details, or to clarify any information.

If you’re successful, we will contact you to arrange a meeting. We'll talk about the role in more detail.

After the meeting, if all parties agree, we’ll ask you to sign a volunteering agreement. We will start your DBS checks and training.

You can change your mind and withdraw at any point in the application process. You can do this by email.
