Accessibility statement for Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF)

This website is run by Walsall Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • some forms and field inputs are not labelled correctly for screen reader users
  • some controls do not have matching accessible labels
  • updates to content are not announced to screen reader users
  • some error messages do not assist the user to fix the errors
  • some forms do not have sufficient labels or instructions
  • some form error messages are not properly associated with their corresponding field inputs

Some images are missing alternative text. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 Non text content. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some heading levels have been marked up incorrectly. Some parts of the forms including hierarchy, field requirements, lists structure, elements locations are not marked up correctly This may impact Blind or low vision users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.1 Info and Relationships. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some images contain text within them. These cannot be read by screen reader users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.4.5 Images of Text. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some pages do not have a unique page title. The page title should describe the topic of the page, purpose of the page or the subject of the page. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.2 Page titled. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some visible labels do not match their accessible name. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.5.3 Label in name We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some required form fields do not provide error messages announcements to assistive technology users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.1 Error identification. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some of our forms are missing clear instructions on how to fill them out. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

Some error messages are not announced in the correct format for screen reader users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.3 Status message. We plan to amend this by July 2025.

 

Preparation of this accessibility statement 

This statement was prepared on 17 January 2024.

This website was last tested on 27 November 2024. The test was carried out by Walsall Council Accessibility Team. The tests included: 

  • accessibility testing using automated tools such as WAVE and axe DevTools
  • visual inspection of interactive elements
  • interacting with the website using only a keyboard
  • interacting with the website using a screen reader NVDA
  • zoom in pages to 200% and 400% and inspecting the pages
  • simulating mobile phone screens
  • It was last reviewed on 16 December 2024.
